C Program to Swap Two Numbers without Using Third Variable

YASH PAL, 31 July 202429 January 2026

In this tutorial, we are going to write a C Program to swap two numbers without using the third variable in C Programming with practical program code and step-by-step full complete explanation.

C Program to Swap Two Numbers without Using Third Variable

C Program to swap two numbers without using a third variable.

#include <stdio.h>
#include <conio.h>

void main()
{
	int a,b;

	clrscr();

	printf("Enter value for a and b: ");
	scanf("%d%d",&a,&b);

	a=a+b;
	b=a-b;
	a=a-b;

	printf("After swapping the values of a and b: %d %d",a,b);

	getch();
}

Output

Enter value for a and b: 4 5
After swapping the values of a and b: 5 4
Here in the above program we first include the header files and then we declare two variables in the main function and then clear the screen using the function. after that we use the printf() function to print the message on the screen and then scan the value from the user.
After that, we use the basic formula to swap the value of a and b variables. and then print the values on the screen.
